Action!

Action!

We see a lot of resumes here at Powell River’s Career Link office. Most could improve with just a few handy tips, along with a well-directed focus. It’s easy to greatly improve your chances of landing that job.

Below is a visual example of things you should look out for, including using action verbs, highlighting marketable skills and education as appropriate to the type of work you are seeking. Keep it neat, ordered, well-spelled, and as short as it needs to be (under 2 pages is best).
Our Career Lab is open Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm for drop in self-help, with Career Lab Advisors there to help you as you work. Of course, Counsellors are available for consultations (ask at the front desk or call 604.485.7958 to determine eligibility and to set an appointment), as are free workshops on building your resume, cover letter and general job search skills.

Our trusty website (www.careerlinkbc.com) has many tips too! Check out our “Resumes and More” section for a wide range of helpful tips and advice.
