A new Industry Training Authority of BC initiative is helping the women of Powell River break through barriers to employment in the trades. Vancouver Island University is rolling out a new program that financially supports and encourages women entering trades training. There are two possible streams you can choose from, based on individual assessment.
All Women in Trades program participants have access to various types of support for education and employment. Support is provided for all participants to proceed to the next level of training or onto a job site. This support may include: program tuition, books, safety boots, adult upgrading required for a career in trades, essential skills training, and access to industry mentors.
